!!MY LIFE IS CRASHING AT MY FEET!! ''i feel like i can't breath anymore'' Shane walked into the hospital with a worried expression on her face. She had been getting sick every morning for the past month. She was starting to think she had some disease, well she hoped that it was a disease and not what she really thought it was. She knew she was late, but hey it could be stress right? Shane shook her head at her thoughts. She had been eating like none other for the last month and a half. Johnny had even made fun of her for eating more then him one time they went out for lunch. She had eaten a whole pizza and was still hungry. She had just laughed and told him it was a growth spurt.
Shane's mind shot back to a night two months ago. It was the night of the Kiss and Tell party. When the clock had struck twelve she had taken off her mask to see that the guy she had been dancing and having a great time with the whole night was none other then Nate. He had looked just as shocked as she was. He had leaned down and kissed her then. She had been so caught up in the moment and the thought that it was Nate she was kissing that she didn't object when he pulled her away into one of the spare rooms. She also hadn't objected when he had taken her virginity. She didn't object when he had told her that he didn't think it would be a good idea if they started anything either. That was just the kind of person she was when it came to Nate.
Shane walked up to the desk and smiled at the nurse behind it. "Hello, I need to see a doctor." She told the nurse. The nurse smiled at her and handed her a clip board. "Okay just fill out these papers and the doctor will we'll call you back in a little bit." Shane took the clip board and walked over to the sitting area pulling out her cell phone. She scrolled through the numbers. Dan was on a date with Serena so she couldn't call him. And no way in hell was she calling Nate. She scrolled down to one name and stopped. She hit send and waited for him to pick up.
Shane started to fill out that papers while she waited for Johnny to pick up. The questions were standard and all. Like what is the problem. When was the last time you had intercourse. How long have you been sick. Shane could answer all these questions with ease. She had only had sex once and that was with Nate, and the reason she was here now. Tears started to fill her eyes when Johnny answered the phone. "Johnny, I need you." She said in a watery voice.

Johnny jerked upright, his head fuzzy as he tried to realise where he was. His front room, right. That was always a good start since at least he knew he hadn't got up to anything that he perhaps shouldn't have. Bringing his feet down from the small coffee stained table in front of the sofa, Johnny leant forward and rubbed his eyes. Surprisingly, last night he had gone against every expectation of him and had stayed in and watched some crappy night television with a beer in his hand. Glancing up, Johnny took note of two empty bottles in front of him and rubbed the back of his neck removing the stiffness from sleeping in an awkward position. Johnny flicked open his phone to check the time and groaned, he hated sleeping during the day. It always made him feel funny for the rest of the day and considering the weekend was the only time he had to be himself, it sucked to spend it asleep. He threw the cell phone on the table and stood, carrying the bottles with him to the kitchen and threw them in the bottle bin.
Johnny stretched again, pulling the muscles in his back until they creaked and rubbed a hand over his face again, scratching his bare stomach absently. Now the question was what was he going to be up to today? Maybe he'd go shopping... he was bound to run into someone along the way. Johnny frowned slightly as he got a jump from a loud tune being played from his phone and he moved over to it, checking the I.D to see 'Shane B' before flicking it open with a smile. "Johnny Skye at your service."
His smile immediatedly disappeared when he heard Shane's watery voice over the phone. He hated the thought of her being upset but to hear it got him into action straight away, any previous feelings of tiredness disappeared as Johnny threw on a shirt whilst asking, "Where are you?" Johnny grabbed his keys and wallet before shutting the door and fumbling to lock it, his cell attached to his ear by his shoulder. Finally closing up, Johnny turned and almost jumped the steps, reaching outside.
"What's wrong... why are you...?" Johnny raised his hand and waved for a cab, unnaturally speechless at her voice at hearing her location. The first cab ignored him and he threw a few insults toward it as it turned the corner, almost fuming before throwing open the back door to the cab that pulled over. "Hospital, please." Johnny said to the front of the cab, hoping she would give him some explanation for him to worry so much.

!!MY LIFE IS CRASHING AT MY FEET!! ''i feel like i can't breath anymore'' Shane felt the tears fill her eyes as she sat there and Johnny asked her questions. "Johnny, I'm at the hosptial. I'm waiting to see a doctor. She said all of this in a rush as she put her in her hands and started to full out cry. "I think I really screwed up."She paused and took a breath. "I think I'm pregnant." She told him in a small defeated voice. She hated feeling so venerable. She was always so strong, so confident. Johnny, Nate, and Chuck were the only ones that had ever seen her cry.
They all knew about her horrible past with her mother. Most people thought that her mother should have been Chuck's and Chuck's her's. Angela, her mother, was a money grubbing whore. Or that's what Shane thought about her. When Shane had been little if she had asked her mother for anything her mother would have locked her in a closet until she stopped cry. She'd do the same thing whenever she went out. Shane still to this day couldn't be alone in the dark. When Chuck was home she still climbed in bed with him when she got scared.
"Bart is going to kill me Johnny." She said in a weak voice. She looked down at the clip board and paper in her lap and sighed. Her crying had left marks on the paper. Big tear stains all over it. She whipped her hand under her eyes glad that she hadn't worn any makeup today. She could just picture one of the girls from Constance coming in here right now. Her a blubering mess on the phone with a guy that people kept saying she was dating. It wasn't a hard thing to guess what she was here for. In the back of her mind she caught herself hoping that this didn't some how end up on Gossip Girl. She sniffed. "I'm in the waiting room. You're here?" She asked hope in her voice. Johnny always made things better. They were eachother's confidantes. She knew that Johnny told her everything. She told him everything. He was the only one that knew about her and Nate. And that she was in love with Nate. She could never tell anybody else that. Not even Dan.

Johnny looked out the window and at the almost blurred buildings that zoomed the other way as the Yellow Cab he was in headed in the direction to the hospital at quite a speed. Apparently, the driver could sense his urgency. Johnny frowned strongly and didn't pay attention to what he was looking at outside as he had to listen to his good friend cry over the phone. It most certainly wasn't a sound he had been planning to hear very often, at least not when he wasn't there to give her a hug. The travel to the hospital seemed to be taking forever but the driver was doing his best, so Johnny would tip the guy as best as he could... within his pay limit anyway.
"Pregnant..." Johnny said, breathless. Rubbing his forehead with his hand, Johnny tried to make sense of it all. Of course, she had had sex with Nate Archibald a while ago... had she since? Shane hadn't said anything to him which worried him for a moment before Johnny realised there were pressing issues. "Bart isn't going to touch you, Shane." Johnny knew she hadn't meant it literally, but he had felt the need to say it anyway just to let her she wasn't alone. Johnny was probably the least likeliest person to judge her, especially in a situation like this. Everyone knew he was a player and a bit of a womaniser and certainly not a virgin by any stretch but they didn't know why he played the field. Only a select few really understood his reasoning for that and it included the hours he found himself working and the severe lack of time he had to sleep never mind try and care for a rich and clingy girlfriend. "I'm on my way right now."
Johnny sat up in his seat to look through the windscreen and spot the hospital up ahead. Pulling his wallet out of his back jeans pocket, Johnny grabbed a 20 bill and passed it through the small hole as soon as the cab pulled to a stop. "Thanks, mate." [/b] The cab driver nodded, and sent him a "good luck" as Johnny climbed out of the yellow car. He listed to her say she was in the waiting room when he asked and he jogged up to the front desk to get directions before jogging down the hallway in the right direction. This was taking him far too long to reach his beloved friend when Shane was clearly upset. "Shane." Johnny spotted her sat on one of the plastic seats and shut his phone, wandering over to her, completely missing the woman on the other side taking a picture on her phone. Johnny took a seat next to Shane and looked at the clipboard she was clutching and lifted it from her grip, putting it to the side before giving his friend a big hug, rubbing her back. " Hey, beautiful." Johnny attempted boost to her self esteem first. "I'm here. It's okay." Johnny tried to console her as he sat with her, there was no way she would have to face any of this alone if she permitted him to be with her, but then she had phoned him. !!MY LIFE IS CRASHING AT MY FEET!! ''i feel like i can't breath anymore'' Shane felt better hearing Johnny tell her that Bart wasn’t going to hurt her. She knew that her dad wouldn’t get the chance to touch her, Chuck and Johnny would stop him before the thought even left his mind. Johnny was like a second brother to her. A brother that she could think was hot and not fell guilt over.
With Johnny being so sweet she often wondered why he didn’t have a girlfriend. She knew that he had time for one. Well, he did if he stopped hanging out with her so much. She knew that most people thought that they were dating. And she also knew that as soon as people found out she was pregnant everybody would think it was Johnny’s, well everybody except Chuck and Nate. They both knew that Johnny and Shane were just really good friends.
Shane was so numb that she didn’t even hear Johnny call her name. When she felt his arms around her she threw her arms around him and cried her heart out. “Johnny I’m so scared. How am I going to tell Nate? He’ll hate me. He told me he wanted to be with her. Why doesn’t he love me Johnny?” She knew that she was babbling and not making much sense, but she couldn’t help it. Her world was shattering around her and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
“Johnny, can I stay with you for a little while?” She asked she knew that if she went home and looked like she thought she looked Chuck would know that something was wrong. She also knew he wouldn’t stop until she told him what was wrong with her. She couldn’t tell him right now. “Oh, god what am I going to tell Chuck?” She sobbed against his shoulder.

Johnny held the back of Shane's head as she cried into his chest. He scowled at her words. At least she knew that if she was pregnant, Shane knew who the father would be. "Nate won't hate you." Johnny would make sure of it. He'd be damned if Shane was going to be left out in the open by a guy that clearly hadn't been careful enough that one night. "He just doesn't understand how great you are, yet." He said, answering her quick question on why he didn't love Shane. There wasn't much he could say in response but that had seemed like a decent enough response. Johnny wasn't brilliant at this type of stuff. "Anyway," Johnny rubbed the back of her head lightly, "it doesn't matter if he is there or not. Even if you are pregnant, which you don't know yet, then your not alone. I'll be there." He wanted her to truly know she wasn't alone whatever the outcome.
"Of course you can stay with me. As long as you want." Johnny was more then happy with the company, except she would have to appreciate he did work incredible hours during the week if she stayed longer then a few days. He wouldn't tell her now, though since that would insinuate that she was a burden and Shane was anything but. Pulling back a little, Johnny let her sit normally but continued to rub her back in support. "We'll cross those bridges when we get to them. Right now, at this moment in time, that isn't important. We need to check that you're okay first." He nodded at her to get Shane to agree.
Reaching behind him when she had calmed a little, Johnny grabbed the clipboard he had moved and handed it back to her, not looking at the personal details to give her some privacy. Poor Shane. Johnny couldn't imagine what she was going through. Her parents expected a lot of her, like parents normally did in the Upper East Side and the pressure clearly weighed on a lot of them, judging by Shane's reaction now anyway. The phrase of you don't know what you have until you lose it jumped to his mind briefly as he looked at Shane. "One thing at a time, Shane."

!!MY LIFE IS CRASHING AT MY FEET!! ''i feel like i can't breath anymore'' Shane smiled through her tears. Johnny always had a way of making Shane feel better no matter what was wrong in her life. “Oh yeah I’m so great that he chose Vanessa over me.” She said with a very un-ladylike snort. It was still a very sore part in her life.
Shane smiled at him and whipped her eyes. “I couldn’t ask you to play daddy to a baby that isn’t even yours. How would you get a girl then?” She joked with him lightly. She pulled away from him and gave him a shaky smile. She looked at his shirt and laughed. “I got your shirt all wet.” She said pulling on it teasingly. She always felt so normal and at peace with Johnny, like it didn’t matter what everybody else thought as long as she was with him.
“Thank you. I won’t get in your way at all. You won’t even know that I’m there.” She said with a smile. She nodded her head as he said that they would wait till they actually had to tell Chuck and Nate before she freaked out. She took the clip board into her shaking hands and finished filling it out. She took a deep breath and stood up and walked back over to the nurse. The nurse gave her a sweet sympathetic smile. “Okay sweetie. We’ll call out your name when one of the doctors are available.” She said as she took hold of Shane’s hand a second before letting it go again.
It was weird but the nurse seemed to calm down Shane the rest of the way. Johnny was right she wasn’t going to be alone. Chuck might kill Nate but she would still have Johnny and Chuck. She knew no matter what that they would always be in her life. She walked back over to Johnny and placed her head on his shoulder. “Thank you so much for being here Johnny. I love you so much.” She said to him hugging him and kissing him on the cheek. She had told him so many times that she loved him. She thought that she meant in a brotherly way, at least that’s what she thought she meant it as.

Johnny didn't reply to Shane's comment about Nate picking Vanessa. What could he say? There was no way he could vouch for the guy,. he didn't know his feelings. Nor did he truly went on that night which lead to this event, but Johnny trusted Shane to look after herself and Nate was supposed to help with that. If he could, he would have words but this wasn't his business as much as Johnny wanted to make it, they would have to work their differences out together. "Please," Johnny puffed out his chest a little in the hope of making her laugh, "I could charm any one into the web of Jonathan Skye." He probably could too.
Johnny too had felt his shirt getting wet but it didn't bother him because Shane needed some support and he wouldn't be fussed if she made all his clothes wet with tears if he thought he helped somehow. "I would take it off... but we don't want everyone to get all hot and bothered. That would complicate things more." Johnny sent her a grin to show he just joking with her. He didn't respond at her statement at not being seen, but just sent her a reassuring smile to let her know he didn't mind. Johnny rested his arm across the back of the chairs lazily as he watched Shane talk to the woman at the reception. Resting one foot on his other knee, Johnny wiped absently at the wetness on his shirt, drying it a little as he waited patiently for his good friend to do what she needed to do. When she returned, Johnny stroked his hand down her brown hair softly, listening to her carefully. He couldn't help but blush a little when she kissed his cheek... even though it happened a lot. It went as quickly as it came. "It's my job, right?" Johnny asked rhetorically. He would be there for Shane no matter what or in this case 'who' she did.
"So, are we going to have to stop at the dvd store on the way back? Rent the Notebook?" Johnny asked with a laugh, his arm still wrapped around Shane. He was more of a shoot-em-up kind of guy but if she wanted something what he would call 'cheesy' or soppy then he didn't mind. They would probably just end up talking or messing around during it anyway. It went against what he would usually be doing on a weekend, but ultimately Shane came before a stupid college party he had been invited too. Knowing his luck, he would just be photographed in the paper again, despite only being here for a short time. Pathetic Journalists. He did a mental snort just thinking about them. "I don't know how clean my place is, though." Johnny said, amusedly. It was a student's bachelor's pad, after all. "Some of us don't have maids and housekeepers." He bumped Shane slightly in amusement, only joking with her and she would know that. She was one of the few he could openly talk about his distinct lack of wealth and not feel like she was judging. It was what made her so great.

!!MY LIFE IS CRASHING AT MY FEET!! ''i feel like i can't breath anymore'' Shane smiled at Johnny and laughed. “I don’t doubt that.” She said with a laugh. She really didn’t doubt that Johnny could make people do whatever he wanted, especially if it was a women. She knew that girls just melted whenever Johnny smiled at them.
Shane actually laughed out loud. “Oh yeah that’s all we need, for that old lady over there to have a heart attack at how defined your abs are. It just sends my blood boiling.” She said the last part in a fake southern accent as she fanned herself. She smiled at him as he started to play with her hair. “You know I was thinking of dying my hair black.” She said in an absent minded voice. She always talked to Johnny before she changed her hair. She looked at him with a frown on her face. “No it’s not your job. Johnny you know you don’t have to be here.” She said. She didn’t want him to feel as if it was his duty to be here. She wanted him to be here.
“Well I was actually thinking of something that wouldn’t make me cry. How about that new movie, umm damn what was it called.” She couldn’t remember the name of that movie that she had saw the preview for and had thought oh that’s a Johnny movie. It was something with a bunch of guns and girls in bikinis. Damn her and her scatter brain sometimes. She thought as she racked her brain. “Oh yeah its that new James Bond movie. What’s it called?” She asked looking up at him.
“Then I’ll clean it for you letting me stay with you.” She said bumping him back as she saw another nurse come out with a clipboard. “Miss Bass?” The nurse called looking out over the waiting room. Shane stood up with a sigh and held her hand out to Johnny. “Well you come back with me? Hold my hand while I pee in a cup?” She joked trying to calm her nervous. She had a felling that her life was about to change, for better or worse she was going to get through all this with her head held high.

Johnny patted his flat stomach with a grin. He worked out, but then appearances were pretty much everything in the upper east side, and even though he didn't live in that area, he was still well known and attended the school and his life from his childhood still was drilled into him that looks got you places... alongside money of course. Since he couldn't really have one, he would at least try with the other. Johnny's eyes focused on the lady at the reception, no doubt she thought he was the father... but Johnny was used to it. He always received endless texts asking him about the latest thing Gossip Girl had published about Shane and him being in a relationship. It didn't bother Johnny in the slightest, the people that mattered to him knew it wasn't true and had also learnt to ignore any comments on their friendship. Apparently in the world of gossip, guys and girls couldn't just be friends.
"You know she wants me." He sent a cheeky grin and wink at the older lady who looked momentarily shocked before fumbling with her papers in front of her. Johnny held in a laugh and looked at Shane, trying to decide if she would suit Black hair. Probably would, too. "Bit dark and morbid, isn't it?" Johnny liked bright colours, he always had, not to mention natural girls, but if Shane wanted to change the colour of her hair who was he to say she shouldn't.
Johnny sent Shane a funny look. "You want to see a James Bond movie?" That was a bit difficult to understand. He had read a review and it had called it a lot of bombs and explosions which sounded just perfect to him but for Shane? "Fair enough." They would probably change their mind when they got there anyway. Johnny could understand her reasoning though. An action movie would take her mind off things, such as the whole prospect of a baby.
"Sure." Johnny said confidently. He ignored the funny look the nurse gave him and took Shane's hand, squeezing it slightly as he could tell she was nervous. "I'll cheer you on." He said, brightly, swinging their arms playfully. He wasn't stupid, he knew Shane would be crying inside and he would do anything he could to spur her on. It made him happier then Shane was comfortable enough to let him join her as she did the business.
"Maybe I should check if I'm preggers. That would be a little unexpected!" The nurse gave him another funny look as she held open the door for the private room for Shane to go through. Johnny stopped at the door and let Shane enter. "I'll wait here... just outside the door if you need me." He would give the girl some privacy. It was hard enough for her to call him, never mind pee in front of him. "I'll make friendly with the nurse." He sent her a big grin beside him and the nurse rolled her eyes a little.
Johnny sent a reassuring grin to Shane before the door could shut and whispered through it "Pee like you've never pee'd before!" Any joke, no matter how big or small, would only make Shane feel a little better and would consolidate his place as being there for her.
Johnny lent back against the wall beside the door and the nurse glanced at him. "So, are you hoping it's a child for the two of you." The nurse asked him with a smile. Johnny was stunned for a moment before coughing and shaking his head. "Nooo. I'm just a good friend." This time it was the nurses turn to look shocked. "I'm sorry, I just assumed." The nurse stuttered, gripping the clipboard tightly. "Don't worry about it. Happens all the time." That was an understatement if they heard one.

!!MY LIFE IS CRASHING AT MY FEET!! ''i feel like i can't breath anymore'' Shane laughed when Johnny patted his stomach. She was so glad that she had Johnny with her right now. She knew that if she didn’t she would be going crazy right now. She laughed and lightly slapped Johnny’s are. “Would you stop you are going to cause her to have a heart attack.” She said hiding her laugh behind her hand. “I don’t know. It’s just something I was thinking of.” She said with a shrug she didn’t think that she would ever even do that.
“Well at that moment it would be better some sappy love story.” She said nodding. “Truth though I actually did want to see this one.” She said. She had heard that it was a good movie, despite all of the violence.
Shane pulled to a stop right outside the bathroom and took the cup that the nurse handed her. She said thank you and shut the door. She heard Johnny through it and laughed. “You know we could totally make a lot of money off of that.” She said as she filled the cup up with pee. She heard the nurse ask Johnny if they were hoping for their first child. She almost laughed at that of course they would think that Johnny was the father. Everybody else would too. She came out of the bathroom and handed the nurse the cup with pee in it.
“We also need some blood Miss Bass.” The nurse said with a smile. Shane could feel all the blood drain from her face. Her biggest fear was needles. She hated them, like crazily hated them. She looked at Johnny in that pleading way that said she needed him more then ever. Johnny, Chuck and Nate were the only ones that knew that she hated needles. She couldn’t even watch other people get their blood taken. She had actually passed out once when she had watched Nate give blood at the blood drive. It was something about the needle going into the arm that freaked her out.

Johnny stuffed his hands in his pockets as he waited for Shane in the awkward silence that had followed the question from the nurse. It wasn't that he wasn't used to it, because he was from everyone. People seemed fixated on whether or not Johnny Skye and Shane Bass were together. Men and women could be friends, as they were, without sleeping together. The upper east side was so... confusing. Johnny smiled as the door came open and Shane handed the cup to the nurse.
"You need more water in your diet." He said with a smirk, prepared for the arm smack that would most likely come his way. He knew it was awkward peeing in front of someone but he could tease... even a little bit. He rubbed her back as they waited but his reassuring smile to the nurse dropped in frustration when they said they needed blood. Johnny felt Shane tense up under his hand and he refrained from letting out the sigh.
Shane had a phobia of needles. It was probably a good thing in terms of never being tempted to get a tattoo but it would also mean that in times like this she would be under pressure. His hand squeezed her shoulder and he swallowed as Shane sent the pleading look to him. What was he supposed to do? "Do you really need the blood? There's no way you could do it without?" Johnny scowled as he spoke, watching the nurse already shake her head and her hair flying everywhere.
"I'm sorry. We need blood in case there is a baby and you have a problem." The nurse said, almost regrettably. Johnny looked back at Shane with a sorry expression and let out the sigh he had held in. "Shane... they need it. I'll be there, you can look at me. You can even slap me whilst they do it if you need to."
The nurse nodded, understanding what the problem was. "It will take a second at most, miss. We only need a little bit." Johnny glanced at the woman briefly, gratitude in his eyes. The girl was trying her best under the abnormal circumstances, but what could he do. Shane needed to find out if she was pregnant or not and this, rather regrettably, was the only way they could check. "It will be worth it, Shane."
